The UK has good trade relations with the Philippines. From January to July 2011, UK exports of goods to the Philippines amounted to £161m. In terms of investment, for the past decade the UK has been the largest investor in the Philippines with combined investments of USD 9.7 billion (£6.6 billion) from 1999-2009. The Philippines, with over 98 million people, is also one of the largest markets in Southeast Asia and one of the largest English- speaking countries in the world. The economy grew by 7.3% in 2010, the highest in over 20 years. Growth in 2011 has been projected by the government at 5%.
